The Chicago Cubs will be without first baseman Anthony Rizzo for at least the next few games.
On Monday, Rizzo showed up on the transaction list as being placed on the 10-day DL, retroactive to April 6th. The move was noticed by Twitter user @RandallJSanders Monday afternoon:
Cubs put Rizzo on the DL? Good. Zero reason to keep him rostered and with the retroactive DL he can be back in a week.

Rizzo was not in the lineup announced early Monday for the Cubs home opener against Pittsburgh. The game was later postponed due to inclement weather as a snowstorm hit Chicago.
The first baseman has missed the past three games with the back injury after trying to play through it Thursday in Milwaukee. He can return as early as April 16th when the Cubs host the St. Louis Cardinals at Wrigley Field.
