The Chicago Cubs could be looking to return a key member of their 2016 World Series team, just a year after letting him go in free agency.
Kyle Schwarber left Chicago last year as a non-tender player, essentially with the Cubs just letting him walk and signed with Washington before he was traded to Boston for the postseason run. But now, Schwarber is a free agent again and the Cubs are looking at potentially getting involved.
Per ESPN radio host David Kaplan, the Cubs are one of the teams mentioned in pursuing him as he has a hot market. Joining them are Toronto and the Boston Red Sox:

The Cubs do need another outfielder but would it make sense to pay big bucks for Schwarber? With the DH coming to the NL this year, they do have room for a power bat in their lineup and Schwarber has proven he can mash at Wrigley Field.
After some struggles, Schwarber put together an impressive 2021 season slashing .266/.374/.554 split with Washington and Boston. He finished the year as a 3.2 WAR and has a career WAR of 9.0.
He has left the door open for a comeback and this might just be a fit and a move the Cubs would make here at the right price.
