The Chicago Cubs have extended their streak of taking a hitter in the first round of the MLB Draft. By selecting Ian Happ, an outfielder from Cincinnati, the Cubs have now taken a position player five years in a row.
The 20-year-old Happ was drafted as an outfielder but could find himself moving to second base in the Cubs organization. His fielding will need some work, especially if he moves to second base but Happ’s hitting is exactly what the Cubs are looking for. The switch hitter found some power this season hitting 14 home runs and slugging .672 this year.

Despite many mock drafts having Happ going later in the first round the Cubs made the move at number nine overall adding another big hitter to their prospect list.
