He’s back!
Just hours after the Chicago Cubs announced they traded Chris Coghlan to the Oakland Athletics, the team announced Dexter Fowler was returning. The outfielder agreed to a deal that has a player option for the 2017 season and is worth $8M in 2016.
Terms of Fowler deal: $8 million base for 2016, $9 million mutual option for 2017, $5 million buy-out. #CubsTalk

Fowler reportedly had a deal with the Baltimore Orioles for three-years and $33M, but left that on the table to try and win a ring with the Chicago Cubs. The news was broke to the team at Spring Training in an awesome way:

Fowler’s return gives the Cubs four really good outfielders in Jason Heyward, Jorge Soler, Kyle Schwarber and Fowler. The idea is that someone, ideally Soler, will platoon and Schwarber will spend some time at catcher.
Whatever Joe Maddon decides to do, the Cubs lineup got that much better.
