The Chicago Cubs have a roster that could stack up with any of the best teams in baseball.
The Cubs have already had some of their players like Kyle Tucker, Seiya Suzuki, and Dansby Swanson be named the top players at their respective positions by MLB Networks the Shredder.
The Shredder released its new list and another more notable Cub made it into the top three for his position.
Chicago Cubs Ian Happ named third best left fielder in baseball
MLB Networks the Shredder dropped their latest list of the best left fielders in baseball and Happ made the list being ranked as the third-best left fielder. Happ is one of the best Cubs players in their history and is widely underrated for his offensive and defensive abilities.

The eight-year veteran came into the league with the Cubs the year following their World Series victory in 2016. Debuting against the St. Louis Cardinals in 2017, Happ went 1-3 with his first Major League hit being his first career home run which also netted him 2 RBIs. Since then Happ has finished in the top 20 for the MVP voting once, was named to one All-Star team (2022), and has three Gold Gloves to his name with his latest coming from this season.
Last season Happ was solid as usual putting up his usual career numbers but having tied his career-high in homers (25) and having a career-high in RBIs (86). Happ did however have a career high in strikeouts with 168 which he can hopefully lower this season but had 80 walks which was the second most he’s had in a season for his career.
Happ’s Baseball Savant is even better with the one standout being he ranked in the 94th percentile for his walk percentage at 12.2%. Happ’s good eye was the reason he ranked in the 84th percentile for his chase percentage (23.2%) and the 79th percentile for landing the sweet spot of the bat on the ball.
This upcoming season
Happ will take his place this season in left field as he has for the past eight seasons.
Happ is projected to be the Cubs leadoff hitter this season according to FanGraphs.
The Cubs will need Happ to be as productive as he has been in his career if they’re to make the playoffs this season.
