The secret is out, the Chicago Cubs need some relief help from the bullpen and Theo Epstein has made it known that acquiring a big arm is the Cubs top priority before August 1.
The talks of a deal that would send either Andrew Miller and/or Aroldis Chapman to the Cubs took an apparent nosedive after Epstein made it perfectly clear that he was looking forward to seeing Kyle Schwarber hit a big home run in a Cubs uniform early next season.
yanks have no deals yet ready to do. cubs have great farm but to date their offers for miller/chapman r said not among best

The rumors have been given a new spark with a tweet that was sent out Monday afternoon by Jon Heyman showing the New York Yankees clearly have an interest in some of the Cubs prospects, if the right offer was put together.
Dan Vogelbach’s name has been brought up as he could be a perfect fit at first base/DH for the Yankees, adding some power to their roster out of the batter’s box. Vogelbach provides more value to New York than he does for Chicago, being how the Cubs infield is already full of All-Star players and the DH is not of value for a National League team.
Vogelbach wouldn’t be enough on his own, the North Siders would lose some of the big names from their farm system that makes the Cubs’ future look as bright as it does.
Outfielder Eloy Jiminez and shortstop Gleybe Torres are likely names that would be headed to the Bronx.
The Chicago Cubs are not the only teams in the mix. If they want a piece of the action they will have to come up with a deal that is going to get some attention.
