With an ailing Miguel Montero, the Chicago Cubs will reportedly call up catcher Kyle Schwarber to start the second half against the Atlanta Braves:

Schwarber has done nothing but hit since being drafted 4th overall by the Cubs last season. After a successful run through Single and Double-A, the 22-year-old Schwarber impressed in a brief six game stint with the Cubs before being sent to Iowa, the Cubs’ Triple-A affiliate. Since arriving, his hitting has continued to shine (.333/.403/.633).
Questions continue to surround his catching ability, and it remains to be seen how the Cubs will use Schwarber, or for how long they will use him.
But for now, it’s Schwarber time.
Update 2:35pm: Catcher Miguel Montero is expected to miss as much as six weeks, meaning Schwarber could theoretically be on the roster through the remainder of the season. The Cubs will also carry three catchers –Schwarber, David Ross, Taylor Teagarden.
