Just a few days after the Chicago Cubs called up Kris Bryant, another top prospect is on his way to the club. According to CBS writer Jon Heyman, the Chicago Cubs will call up shortstop prospect Addison Russell who will join the team in Pittsburgh on Tuesday.

Russell is a shortstop but has been playing regularly at second base and will likely man that spot for the Cubs. The team has struggled at the position with Arimensdy Alcantara & Jonathan Herrera off to slow starts and Tommy LaStella on the Disabled List.
The Cubs infield will now consist of Anthony Rizzo, Russell, Starlin Castro and Bryant.
The 21-year-old was acquired by the Cubs last July in the Jeff Samardzija/Jason Hammel trade with the Oakland Athletics. He’s been ranked a top five prospect by several publications this year and as high as number two on the list from Baseball Prospectus.
In 9 games with Iowa this season Russell is hitting .297 with a home run and seven RBI.
