Moisés Ballesteros is one of the Chicago Cubs top prospects and he has the potential to be a star in the league once he is called up. Know as a better hitter than a defender, the 21-year-old was just rated as the tenth best catcher for catching prospects according to MLB.com.
The tenth best catching prospect

More work to do on defense
The goal for Ballesteros this season will be the improve his receiving ability and his ability to handle a pitching staff. The Chicago Cubs brought in veteran catcher Carlos Pérez on a minor league deal to be a mentor to Ballesteros and to work with him to get better in both of those areas.
With his bat being more advanced than his defense, Moisés Ballesteros could be up at some point this season with the Cubs given they have needs at both catcher and first base. Ballesteros will figure to start this season at Triple-A so he can get consistent everyday at bats in the lineup and also get reps to work on defensive as well. If Ballesteros can replicate what he did last season and carry it over to the first month of this upcoming season, fans can expect Moisés Ballesteros to be up with the Chicago Cubs by either mid May or the start of June.
