The opening week and a half of the 2025 season for the Chicago Cubs generated a mixed set of reviews from the fanbase. They are 7-5 through their first 12 games and have a huge interleague series at home to begin this week against the Texas Rangers.
The highlight of the Cubs first week and a half of play this year is the five-game winning streak that was snapped on Sunday. They were a turned double play away on Sunday from sweeping the Padres and extending their streak to six games, but things did not bounce their way.
The front office’s biggest offseason acquisition in years has showed out early after having a brutal Spring Training at the plate. He was awarded with the National League’s highest honor based on his performance to begin the campaign.
Chicago Cubs slugger Kyle Tucker wins National League POTW award

It was announced on Monday that Kyle Tucker took home National League player of the week honors through Chicago’s first 12 games of the year.

Tucker had a .391 batting average and an OPS north of 1.400 to go with his three home runs to get things rolling in 2025. He has jump-started the Cubs offense on multiple occasions and has been everything that they traded for back in December.
The organization’s new everyday right fielder is on an expiring contract and is expected to receive a massive pay day this offseason. After Vladimir Guerrero Jr. got a 14-year extension from the Toronto Blue Jays north of $500 million early Monday morning, the price for Tucker will likely go up big time.
