The Chicago Blackhawks knock off the Ottawa Senators by a final score of 2-1 winning their second straight contest.
Even though Chicago dominated the first period, it was Ottawa that got on the scoreboard first after Jason Spezza’s attempted dump-in landed right on the stick of Milan Michalek where he wristed a shot past a screened Ray Emery to give the Senators a 1-0 lead.
Early in the third period, Patrick Sharp was awarded a penalty shot after being hooked from behind, but Senators goaltender Robin Lehner denied him.
A couple minutes later, Bryan Bickell tied the game at 1 a piece on a delayed penalty finding a loose puck in the crease and tapped it home for his 7th goal of the year.
Marian Hossa then extended the Blackhawks lead on the power play netting his 27th goal on the season on a backhander wraparound goal which turned out to be the game-winner.
The Blackhawks arguably played their best game of the season tonight and won just their 3rd game of the year scoring 2 goals or less.
On top of Bryan Bickell’s goal, he also recorded 5 hits and added 3 shot blocks, both of which led all skaters on the ice. He definitely played his best game we’ve seen in a long time.
Ray Emery picked up right where he left off against Toronto and was sensational all night stopping 25 of 26 shots faced leading to his second straight win.
Chicago outshot Ottawa 39 to 26 in the game and the Blackhawks also had 11 more takeaways than the Senators.
