The Chicago Fire have fired head coach Carlos de los Cobos after the club started their 2011 season with just 1 win in 11 games, and no MLS season victories since March (though they have won U.S. Open Cup games since then). The Fire sit in 8th place in the 9 team Eastern Conference, ahead of only Sporting Kansas City, who had signed NFL player Chad Ochocinco to a reserve team deal in the off-season. Replacing de los Cobos will be interim manager Frank Klopas, who will guide the team through the remainder of the 2011 MLS season. The Fire, with newcomer Diego Chaves, have 23 MLS regular season games remaining to try to turn their season around.
