Can Cease dominate again?
Early on this season, Dylan Cease emerged as the ace on the White Sox rotation. In five starts, Cease has only allowed eight runs and 17 hits while striking out 39 batters. Moreover, with a .155 expected opponent Batting Average (xBA) and a .230 expected opponent Slugging Percentage (xSLG), the right-hander has been among the best in the American League.
The recent start particularly put Cease on the map. Against a potent Los Angeles Angels lineup, Cease pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing only one hit with 11 strikeouts. It was a start the White Sox needed to snap out of a slump where they only won two of their previous 12 games and their best starter delivered.

The fastball-slider combination has made Cease the starter he is with great command of both pitches. However, the introduction of the curveball, which he has thrown 17% of the time this season has made the 26-year-old an ace. The Red Sox won’t be excepting the curveball and as a result, the pitch can greatly benefit Cease if he continues to mix it into his pitch selection.
