The Chicago White Sox are surging up their roster to hopefully be more competitive this season.
The White Sox have done well with adding veterans and fringe roster guys to hopefully find “diamonds in the ruff” to either build around or trade to bring back better talent.
Following that trend, the White Sox acquired a left-handed pitcher from the Tampa Bay Rays while designating a right-handed pitcher for assignment.

Adding to their depth, the White Sox acquired left-handed pitcher Brandon Eisert from the Rays and DFA’d right-handed pitcher Steven Wilson for assignment, according to the White Sox X account.
“The Chicago White Sox have claimed left-handed pitcher Brandon Eisert off waivers from the Tampa Bay Rays.
To make room for Eisert on the 40-man roster, the White Sox designated right-hander Steven Wilson for assignment.”

Eisert, was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 18th round of the 2019 MLB June Amateur Draft from Oregon State University Corvallis, OR. The 27-year-old spent four seasons in the Blue Jays organization, where Eisert had a career ERA of 3.76 in 246.2 innings. Eisert finally reached the big leagues with Toronto this past season, where he appeared in 3 games (6.2 innings pitched) with a 4.05 ERA.
Eisert comes at hitters with a three-pitch mix that he utilizes equally. Eisert has a slider (40.9%), a fastball (36.4%), and a changeup (22.7%) that he could look to get more control of if you look at his chart on Baseball Savant.
Adding Eisert gives the White Sox an abundance of lefties to choose from in their bullpen. Eisert, still has two minor league options, so he does come with roster flexibility if he doesn’t make the club out of spring training.
Releasing a Wilson

The now 30-year-old Wilson came over to the White Sox when they sent Dylan Cease to the San Diego Padres. Wilson, came over in the deal with Samuel Zavala (minors), Jairo Iriarte, and Drew Thorpe.
The Colorado native did not have a great season in the White Sox bullpen, having close to a 6.00 ERA (5.71) in 40 games in 34.2 innings pitched. The White Sox and Wilson avoided arbitration earlier this offseason, with both sides agreeing on terms of a contract for this season.
The White Sox will have seven days for Wilson to pass through waivers where a team can place a claim on him and acquire him. Wilson still has all three minor league options, but given Wilson has three years of service time, he could reject the assignment and become a free agent.
A decent move for the White Sox to make

This move, like all the other moves the White Sox have made this offseason will hopefully help them improve their win total for this season.
Adding Eisert gives the White Sox more depth in their bullpen, and he could be an important part of the White Sox bullpen if he impresses during spring training.
Wilson shouldn’t have a problem with finding a job. Wilson still has all three minor league options, and teams always need bullpen arms, given injuries are always occurring.
