How did the Chicago White Sox agree to deals with?
The White Sox agreed to deals with right-handed relievers Justin Anderson ($900,000), Penn Murfee ($750,000), and Steven Wilson ($950,000). The White Sox also agreed to terms on a deal with first baseman Andrew Vaughn with him signing for $5.85 million.
What to expect from these four in 2025?
All three-right-handers figure to play prominent roles in the White Sox bullpen for this season with FanGraphs projecting Justin Anderson to be the closer for this season. While both Steven Wilson and Penn Murfee, who the White Sox got in a trade with the Seattle Mariners, figure to take down the middle innings for the White Sox.
As for their first basemen Andrew Vaughn, he will really need to have a bounce back year and show whether or not he is worth giving a contract extension too with Vaughn hitting free agency after next season. In 2024 Andrew Vaughn played in 149 games having 140 hits, 19 HRs, 70 RBI, and a slash line of .246/.297/.402 for an OPS and OPS+ of .699 and 99.
In signing all four players the Chicago White Sox have no more remaining arbitration cases for this offseason.
