The Chicago White Sox for the most part are done making any more big moves this offseason.
The White Sox could potentially still look to move Luis Robert Jr. before Opening Day, but as of now, nothing seems likely to happen until the season starts.
The White Sox for the most part are content in making mid-level moves to add depth and more potential bounce-back players to their roster.
The Chicago White Sox bring back Jacob Amaya
The White Sox designated Amaya for assignment a little over a month ago to make room for Josh Rojas on the roster after they officially signed him. In a corresponding move, the White Sox designated Zach DeLoach for assignment per the White Sox X account.
“The Chicago White Sox have claimed infielder Jake Amaya off waivers from the Baltimore Orioles. To make room for Amaya on the 40-man roster, the White Sox designated outfielder Zach DeLoach for assignment.“

Amaya has had an up-and-down major league career, to say the least. The 26-year-old infielder was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the eleventh round of the 2017 MLB June Amateur Draft from South Hills HS West Covina, CA. The White Sox picked up Amaya back in August when the Houston Astros designated him for assignment. During his time with the Astros Amaya mostly played in the minor leagues with only making one appearance for the Astros at the big-league level.
Known more for his defense than his offense, Amaya his minor league career was just pretty average as an offensive player, slashing .251/.353/.389 for an OPS of .742. In just his quick 23-game stint with the White Sox, Amaya was not too impressive, hitting .179/.225/.194 for an OPS and OPS+ of .419 and 23. With Colson Montgomery, Brooks Baldwin, Lenyn Sosa, and others higher than Amaya on the depth chart, Amaya was expendable.
What does Amaya bring that he’s back?
Now that Amaya is back with the White Sox, he will provide more depth and be a possible defensive replacement if he makes the major league roster.
As for DeLoach, he will pass through waivers where any team can place a claim on him. If DeLoach passes through waivers, he has less than three years of service time and two minor league options available and is eligible to be optioned down.
