As the regular season rolls on, the Chicago White Sox are on pace to surpass their loss record with how poorly they have been playing and after dropping back-to-back series to the Minnesota Twins and Detriot Tigers.
The one good sign for the White Sox is most of their top prospects are producing down in the minor leagues, with Kyle Teel and Chase Meidroth being the two who are scorching hot and looking deserving of a call-up.
Before today’s game, the White Sox activated left-handed pitcher Tyler Gilbert from the injured list and sent down left-hander Brandon Eisert to the minors to make room.
The White Sox made another move before today’s game by signing a player who was with the White Sox during spring training and is now back for round two.
Chicago White Sox bring back a versatile player on a minor-league deal

The White Sox made another move by signing veteran infielder Brandon Drury to a minor-league deal and have assigned him to extended spring training.
“The Chicago White Sox have agreed to terms with INF Brandon Drury on a minor-league deal and assigned him to extended Spring Training in Arizona.”

Drury signed with the White Sox in the off-season on a minor-league deal and had an invite to spring training to compete for a job to make the 26-man roster.
Drury had a spectacular spring, slashing .410/.439/.821 for an OPS of 1.260 in 13 games. Drury also showed off his power during the spring by mashing seven doubles and launching three home runs with eleven RBIs.
Drury, 32, was expected to make the roster after having a great spring, but an injury at the tail end of spring training derailed those chances and led to him getting released.
What happens now that Drury is back?

Since he’ll start his 2025 season at extended spring training, one can summarize that this is to get Drury all caught up so he can eventually join the big league club when he’s ready.
Adding Drury back gives the White Sox another veteran presence in their clubhouse and adds someone who can move around the diamond.
Drury was looking to have a bounce-back season after having one of the worst seasons in his career last year with the Angels where he slashed .169/.242/.228 for an OPS and OPS+ of .469 and 34 in 97 games.
Now that he’s back in the organization, he’ll be afforded another chance to prove he is the player he was in 2022 when he won a Silver Slugger.
