September call-ups are finally here and the Chicago White Sox have announced their first wave of moves.
The White Sox announced that they have called up right-hander Erik Johnson, catcher Rob Brantly and infielder infielder Leury Garcia from Triple A Charlotte. They have also called up right-hander Frankie Montas from Double A Birmingham on Tuesday.
For Johnson, he is expected to make a few starts in the White Sox rotation this month after he was just named the International League Pitcher of the Year. Johnson posted a 2.37 ERA and 136 strikeouts in 23 games this season. He finished with an 11-8 record.
Brantly played in 53 games this season splitting time at Charlotte and Birmingham, hitting .310 with eight home runs and 33 RBI on the year. The 26-year-old will likely come in late in games to get some relief for starter Tyler Flowers.
Garcia is making another stint with the White Sox this season. The 24-year-old went 2-for-6 in his time with the White Sox this year, and hit .298 in 90 games with Charlotte. He also stole 36 bases in that time.
The 22-year-old Montas finished the minor league season with a 5-5 record and a 2.97 ERA at Birmingham.
