The Chicago White Sox have been without a few players to begin this season, as most of their offseason signings have shown to be injury-prone. Injuries have hampered the White Sox, and thankfully, some of the players who were on the injured list are making their way back.
The White Sox got Andrew Benintendi back, who was the main driver of their offense before going on the IL and called one of their catching prospects, Edgar Quero, to help provide a spark.
The White Sox aren’t playing the best baseball and adding any player who can add more offense and run production doesn’t hurt and would benefit them for the grind that lies before them. The Sox are still a little ways away from getting one of their offseason acquisitions, Josh Rojas, back but the timeline for his return looks promising.
The Chicago White Sox could see Rojas return soon

The White Sox signed Rojas over the offseason to a one-year deal to be a key part of their infield and hopefully provide them with some run production. Rojas suffered a fracture to his big toe at the tail end of spring training and has been on the injured list since Opening Day.
According to MLB.com, Rojas is expected to return sometime in early May. Before going on the injured list, the White Sox were expecting Rojas to be a key part of their infield and either be their primary second baseman or shortstop. Things have changed since Rojas went on the IL, but his presence once he’s back could help in many ways.
Another veteran presence for the White Sox

Rojas will provide the White Sox with another veteran presence once he’s back in the clubhouse. Rojas could also be a potential mentor for his double-play partner, Chase Meidroth. Meidroth is still learning the ropes of the big leagues, and having someone like Rojas help him through the struggles could benefit the White Sox in the long run.
Once he is back, Rojas will likely slide into being the White Sox’s primary second basemen, moving Meidroth over to shortstop, which wouldn’t be a horrible middle infield. Rojas could even see playing time in the outfield, as he’s shown to be a capable defender out there. In five seasons in the outfield, Rojas has a positive nine for defensive runs saved for all three spots and a six for leftfield.
No matter where he’ll play, Rojas’s versatility will benefit the White Sox as they want to try incorporating more of their prospects into the big leagues, and his flexibility will help make it easier for them to do that. Once Rojas is officially back, the end could be insight for someone like Jacob Amaya, who has struggled offensively and would be the odd man out.
Rojas can’t come back soon enough, as the White Sox are again in the middle of another losing streak. The White Sox will need Rojas to remain healthy and play as many games as possible to get any value for him at the trade deadline.
