Entering the All-Star break at 45-43, the Chicago White Sox aren’t ready to call an end to the season just yet.
After the hot streak they started the 2016 season with began to cool down, they were able to win 12 of the final 19 games in the first half of the season. If the Sox are going to have any success through the second 88 games, improvements will have to start on the mound.
Carson Fulmer could become a part of the White Sox bullpen later in the year if Chicago is showing any signs of going anywhere. If anyone in the White Sox organization forgot who he was, he made sure to get their attention during the seventh inning of the Futures game Sunday against the World prospects.
Fulmer was able to send two batters back to the dugout during a three up, three out inning. The White Sox prospect needed three pitches in order to strike out Francisco Mejia, who let himself get caught chasing after a changeup for his third strike.
After just five pitches, Dilson Herrera of the Mets organization watched a front door breaking ball go past him for strike number three. Amed Rosario, also with the Mets, then grounded out to short to end the inning.

Since early June, Carson Fulmer has been a part of the starting rotation for Double-A Birmingham. He has gone 41 and 1/3 innings with an ERA of 3.51. He has punched out 54 batters while only giving up 17 walks and allowing only one home run. His arsenal of pitches includes an above average slider and changeup and he has hit marks of 90-94 mph.
Fulmer will now definitely be at the front of Whit Sox manager, Robin Ventura’s mind, especially if the post season becomes within reach of Chicago.
