Despite a disappointing year in 2017, the future is bright for the Chicago White Sox.
Rick Hahn and the front office have built the best farm system in baseball acquiring talent through trades and the draft which has given fans hope for the future.
While players like Yoan Moncada and Lucas Giolito have reached the big leagues in 2017, there are still more prospects coming up through the system and 2018 might be the year we see some more.
The White Sox released their tentative 2018 schedule on Tuesday and as always there are several key dates to mark on the calendar. The team will have the National League Central as their interleague opponents for the season and the season itself will start earlier next season and not on a traditional day.
The Sox will start on the road against the Kansas City Royals on Thursday March 29th at 3:15 which will kickoff a six game road stretch where they will go to Toronto to face the Blue Jays. Their home opener will be Thursday, April 5th against the Detroit Tigers and will be the start of a six game home stand that will feature three games against Tampa Bay Rays following the Tigers.
The team’s longest road trip will start at the very end of June where they will have a 10 game road trip with three game series against the Texas Rangers and Cincinnati Reds before wrapping the road trip up with a four game series at Houston against the Astros. The logistics of the trip are weird because it has then going to down to Texas, to come back up to Ohio, and then back down to Texas again.
The White Sox will have visits from Pittsburgh (May 8-9), Milwaukee (June 1-3), St. Louis (July 10-11) and the Cubs (September 21-23). They will also travel to Pittsburgh, St. Louis, Cincinnati and Wrigley Field.
