On Thursday night the Chicago White Sox turned back the clock to the Bill Veeck days.
The team sported the classic 1976 throwback uniforms, wearing the jersey untucked and a large collar. The only thing missing from the uniform was the classic shorts in which manager Robin Ventura was happy about according to ESPN:
“Yeah from sliding (players’ knees) usually are not pretty,” manager Robin Ventura told ESPN. “Aesthetically, that wouldn’t be very good.”
The decision to wear the classic uniform made jersey enthusiats happy and gave older fans a look back at what the White Sox were in the 1970’s. Personally, I loved the idea to bring them back despite the ‘pajama look’. The White Sox would go onto win the game behind a solid performance from rookie Carlos Rodon.
