Eloy Jimenez suffers hamstring injury
Eloy Jimenez’s strength ultimately became his weakness in the second inning of Saturday’s loss. Jimenez already hustles and plays the game above the line. Whether it’s crashing into walls in the outfield, sprinting around the bases, or swinging for the fences, the 25-year-old star plays the game at a different pace.
A soft grounder to third was what did Jimenez in as he sprinted to first base and was barely ruled out. Unfortunately trying to beat out the throw left Jimenez stumbling past the base and falling to the Target Field grass, straining his right hamstring in the process.

Jimenez will be out for at least six weeks, if not longer. The difficulty with the injury is that Jimenez will feel fine in a few weeks but won’t be able to return to form for months. The White Sox have to deal with the absence of one of their best players in the immediate aftermath as well as the long haul. It’s not the first time the young slugger has missed time to injury. The overambitious play has been a reoccurring issue, costing the team valuable games once again.
