The Chicago White Sox won their first series of the year against one of the better teams in the American League, the Boston Red Sox.
The White Sox had been scuffling up to this point, snapping an eight-game losing streak once the Red Sox came to town.
The series has also seen the debut of one of the White Sox’s top prospects, Chase Meidroth, who has shown off his ability to walk and get on base.
The White Sox won the series on a clutch pinch-hit at-bat from another one of their young guys, who will be counted on to do more given all their injuries.
Chicago White Sox win their first series of the season

The White Sox won their first series of the season, taking two games from the Red Sox as they saw a great pitching performance from Davis Martin in game one, where he gave them six strong innings, allowing six hits, one earned run, giving walk, and striking out six.
The second game of the series saw the White Sox climb back to win on a walk-off pinch-hit double by Brooks Baldwin.

Baldwin’s hit not only captured the Series for the White Sox but gave the Sox their first back-to-back wins of the season.
More playing time is incoming for Baldwin

Baldwin will be getting more playing, as outfielder Austin Slater requires knee surgery after tearing his right knee meniscus.
In 39 at-bats this season (13 games), Baldwin has had some success, hitting .256/.250/.359 for an OPS of .609, and has been used all over the field by manager Will Venable.
Baldwin’s success at the plate and ability to be moved around should help him get the bulk of the reps while the guys on the injured list work their way back.
The White Sox will wrap things up this afternoon as rookie Shane Smith will try to continue his run of dominance on the mound and will square off against former White Sox Garrett Crochet. This will be Crochet’s first appearance in Chicago since being traded this off-season.
