On Wednesday, Chicago Bears fanatics received a bit of good news for the injury-ridden Monsters of the Midway.
Lovie Smith’s vital rookie, Major Wright, returned to practice following a left index finger injury that was repaired surgically. Prior to practice, Wright said “I’m out there doing everything.” This news comes as a bit of a surprise, as Wright was expected to miss more time.
“The learning process has never stopped, and I feel the coaches have been good to me and my teammates have been bringing me along [helping] me,” said the Florida product. “It’s just grasping the whole defense, getting all your concepts, your reads and keys.”
Wright has been a leader in the secondary throughout training camp, making pre-snap call outs and reads. Also, an established leader for a rookie, Wright has made aggressive tackles in limited playing time. However, the lack of preparation seems to be disregarded in the third round pick’s eyes.
“I don’t feel like I’m behind, I’m just going out and preparing myself well.”
In addition, former LSU safety Craig Steltz continues to sit out with a high ankle sprain. Wide-out Earl Bennett has recovered from surgical procedures, along with 2009 standout linebacker Nick Roach.
