Another year, another list of familiar names sitting atop the rankings of the best fantasy football quarterbacks heading into 2017.
However, this season is setting up for a potential changing of the guard with several young play callers lurking in the lower half of the QB1 tier.
We know the usual suspects aren’t getting any younger, but let’s look at the breakdown of what’s available to work with in your draft:

Rodgers, Brady, Brees, and Luck. If you want consistency, here is the pack to go with. Rodgers has been a top two QB seven of the last nine seasons, Brady has been a top five option in five of the last seven, Brees a top three signal caller in seven of the last 11 seasons and Luck a top four producer in three of the past four seasons.
Of course, age and injuries plague three of these elite players and if there’s a year to take a risk on waiting – this is probably it.
Winson, Carr, and Mariota all have a case to potentially make the leap into the top five this season, as each enters the year with an improved supporting cast to make it happen.

Entering the QB2 tier, the inconsistent veterans take hold with the exception of the #13 QB, Dak Prescott who enters his sophomore season without his top offensive weapon Ezekiel Elliott for six games.
The pressure will be felt on the Dallas QB, but he showed he can hold his own – can he do it with Darren McFadden carrying the rock to kick off the season is the question.
Look for Wentz to potentially make a jump into the top 10 this season as well. After a hot start to his rookie year, he cooled off quickly. The additions of Alshon Jeffery and Torrey Smith make him an intriguing backup in all leagues.

Yes, we are a Chicago sports blog, and yes, we saw Trubisky’s performance against Denver. The potential is there for him to move up a few slots on the list over the coming weeks – the same can be said for Deshaun Watson and DeShone Kizer.
