The Chicago Cubs called up outfielder Christopher Morel from AA on Tuesday, rewarding the 22-year-old with a chance at the big leagues. And he made a great first impression.
Morel hit his first career home run in the Cubs’ 7-0 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday evening as he came in as a pinch hitter in the seventh inning. The outfielder hit the home run off position player Paul DeJong but regardless, the ball was crushed and Morel showed his excitement while rounding the bases:

In a season where the Cubs have struggled, there have been some bright spots for David Ross’ team and Tuesday night was certainly one of them. Now, let’s see if Morel can build on this and have a long-term impact this year.
