Chicago — Tyler Colvin fueled the Cubs offense today with 3 hits and driving in 4 runs, including a 3-run homer, to snap the White Sox 11 game win streak in the series finale at U.S. Cellular Field. Ryan Dempster (6-6) bested lefty John Danks (7-6).
The Cubs trailed early after Carlos Quentin singled in a pair in the first, but Covin answered with his 10th home fun of the year in the 3rd which gave the Cubs the lead for good.
The White Sox made it interesting in the 9th scoring 3 runs off Cubs closer Carlos Marmol before finally surrendering. Paul Konerko hit his 20th home run of the season in the loss, while Alfonso Soriano added his 11th for the Cubs. Geovany Soto also had 3 hits and and an RBI for the Cubs.
