Chicago Blackhawks centre Connor Bedard’s second season in the NHL came to an end Wednesday night with a 4-3 win over the Ottawa Senators in front of 14,115 fans at the Canadian Tire Center. Bedard scored two goals and recorded an assist as the Blackhawks improved to 25-46-11.
The record was a disappointment for the Blackhawks and Bedard in Year 2.
During his end-of-season press Conference on Thursday, Bedard said sometimes he looks sad on the bench but still feels like he wants to stay with Chicago.
Connor Bedard: “I want to be here”

“I’ve said it 100 times: I love it here. I want to be here for a long time,” Bedard said. “If I look a little sad on the bench, people sometimes take it out of context. People that know me know that I love being here.”
Bedard led Chicago with 67 points this season. He scored 23 goals and added 44 assists.
Bedard is eligible for a contract extension this summer. Some in the NHL world believe Bedard and his agent should wait to sign an extension so they can bargain for more money in 2026 and can see how the Blackhawks plan to build around him after failing to help the young athlete in his first two seasons.
The Chicago Blackhawks might have to wait on an extension

Per Phil Thompson of the Chicago Tribune, Bedard squashed any talk of extending his contract with Chicago right now. He’s been too focused on the season to worry about getting a deal done.
“I guess no real preference for me,” Bedard said regarding a timeline to sign a contract extension. “It’s something I haven’t really put too much thought to with the season (going) and you’re playing and focusing on that.
“I’ve said it 100 times: I love it here. I have a great relationship with (general manager) Kyle (Davidson) and everyone. I don’t even know what to expect with that – you have the conversations and stuff and see – but I’m not too worried about any of that. Great relationship and I know I want to be here for a long time.”
Bedard could prove he wants to be with the Blackhawks for a long time by signing a contract extension this summer.
