Corey Crawford was named the NHL’s first star of the week after going 2-1-0 with a 0.68 GAA, a .979 SV% and two consecutive shutouts.
If it wasn’t for Crawford the Blackhawks would be in a world of hurt. The amount of odd-man rushes and turnovers in front of the net that the Blackhawks defense have given up this season would leave any other goalie flat on the ice begging for it to stop. Crawford is the main reason why the Blackhawks are even a few games over .500.

Currently Crawford is leading the league in GAA and SV%, if the Blackhawks could score he would have a better record of 7-5-0.
Before Darling was traded to Carolina it was suggested that the Blackhawks trade Crawford and make Darling the starting goalie to open up more cap space. Don’t get me wrong I really liked Darling, but that probably could have been the worst move the Blackhawks could have made.
Crawford is in his prime and the argument that it doesn’t matter who the Blackhawks put in net is flawed and entirely illogical with the way the defense has been playing. I guess you could say I’m biased but there are about 15 other NHL teams that would beg to have a goalie like Crawford.
The hate that some Blackhawks fans have for Crawford is beyond me, we are spoiled to have a goalie like him.
