Phoenix Coyotes knock off the Chicago Blackhawks 4-1 in their first home game in over two weeks. Only the second home game of the season where the Blackhawks have not earned at least a point.
After a 3-3 circus road trip, the Blackhawks were finally relieved to be back in Chicago hosting an opponent on home ice for the first time since November 23rd, but it didn’t really seem like they got off the plane…
Chicago came out with some energy in the first period, but didn’t capitalize. Only recording 7 shots in the first 30 minutes of the game, Phoenix easily took advantage scoring 2 goals before the Blackhawks could get more than a shot on Mike Smith and they didn’t look back.
Corey Crawford was pulled after allowing 4 goals in 21 shots, a couple of them that were a little soft.
Niklas Hjalmarsson finished with a -3 rating on the night which was the worst on the team.
Patrick Sharp picked up the lone goal for the Blackhawks in the final seconds of the third period; Marian Hossa and Patrick Kane credited with the assists.
