In anticipation of this week’s Crosstown Classic games, the Cubs and Sox took the smack talk to Twitter—
I love that both teams can have fun with the match up, because when you think about it, these games don’t really mean anything for either team’s overall season—its solo purpose is bragging rights (and higher ticket sales).
As social media has become more apart of the modern baseball experience, I can only imagine how #CrosstownCup is going to blow up Twitter the next few days. Chicago fans are very social about their teams, and not to be messed with by any means. For example, if your Facebook feed didn’t explode with Blackhawks-Redwings drama last week, you’re probably not from Chicago.
Don’t miss tonight’s first game at U.S. Cellular Field, where the Cubs come to the White Sox home turf for a 6:10 CT start. And for viewers at home, follow #CrosstownCup or #CrosstownClassic—I promise you tons of commercial-break amusement.
