MLBPipeline.com, a website affiliated with MLB.com, released another edition of their mid-season prospect rankings on Sunday. The Cubs are proud to own three of the top-ten prospects in baseball as Kris Bryant, Javier Baez, and Addison Russell rank 4, 6, and 7 respectively.
Arismendy Alcantara (37), Albert Almora (41), Jorge Soler (54), C.J. Edwards (60), and this year’s fourth overall draft pick Kyle Schwarber (79) round out the remaining spots held by Cubs prospects.
Among the names listed, Alcantara is already seeing time in the majors at 22-years-old, while others like Soler, Baez, and maybe even Bryant are doing well enough to possibly join the 37th ranked prospect by September.
Its hard for Cubs fans to cling on to anything other than prospect lists at this point. Another reminder that the Cubs’ farm system is rather exceptional bodes well for this fan.
The excitement is real to a point that the Cubs can hypothetically almost fill a major league lineup with eight of the best prospects in baseball. In due time, fans. In due time! Until then, enjoy Anthony Rizzo’s unbelievable 2014 while its still here.
