Holy smokes! It actually happened.
The Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox made a blockbuster trade centering around starter Jose Quintana and top prospect Eloy Jimenez on Thursday.
The White Sox are sending Quintana to the Northside in exchange for Jimenez, Dylan Cease, Matt Rose and Bryant Flete.

Just days ago it was reported that the White Sox had raised the asking price on Quintana, seeking two top prospects. They got just that in Jimenez and Cease.
Jimenez is a top 10 prospect according to MLB.com and Baseball America. He spent the 2017 season in Single-A Myrtle Beach hitting .271 with 8 home runs and 32 RBI in the Cubs farm system.
As for Quintana, well Theo Epstein got exactly what he wanted in the deal by acquiring a cost-controlled starter through the 2020 season. He did it without giving up a core piece from the big league roster.
Quintana has been fantastic in his last 7 starts posting a 2.70 ERA in 40 IP 45/12 K/BB ratio.
More importantly, it shows that the Cubs are making a push to win it all again this year adding Quintana to the rotation.
