The Cubs announced today that 21 players have been invited to spring training on non-roster invites: Here’s the list of whom we will see in spring training:
Pitchers:
RHP: Marco Carrillo (played in Triple A last year)
RHP: Rodrigo Lopez (re-signed on January 9th)
RHP: Manny Corpas (signed on December 26th)
RHP: Jay Jackson (played in Triple A last year)
RHP: Trey McNutt (played in Double A last year)
RHP: Blake Parker (played in Triple A last year)
RHP: Dae-Eun Rhee (played in High A Daytona last year)
LHP: Trever Miller (signed on January 30th)
LHP: Chris Rusin (played in Double A last year)
Catchers:
Michael Brenly (played in High A Daytona last year)
Jason Jaramillo (signed on December 23rd)
Blake Lalli (played in Double A last year)
Infieldiers:
Alfredo Amezaga (signed on January 13th)
Edgar Gonzalez (signed on December 13th
Jonathan Mota (played in Triple A last year)
Matt Tolbert (signed on January 20th)
Bobby Scales (signed on January 20th)
Outfielders:
James Adduci (played in Double A last year)
Jae Hoon Ha (played in Double A last year)
Brett Jackson (played in Triple A last year)
Joe Mather (signed on December 12th)
A lot of these guys has an outside chance of making the team out of spring training. There’s not one player who I can say has a good chance to make the team. The players will have to have one hell of a spring training. Also, that’s not baring and trades or free agent signing. The one player who we will see in ’12 is the Cubs top prospect OF Brett Jackson. It’s unlikely he’ll make the 25-man roster out of spring training, but we will most likely see him during the 2012 season.
Also, we will see more players at spring training … players who are already given a spot on the roster and other players that have potential (Rizzo).
