The Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Dodgers are very familiar with one another at this point in the season. Both teams are playoff contenders and already have faced each other six times. With one game remaining on Wednesday, April 23, the season series between the two is all tied at 3-3.
Los Angeles took the first three match ups, while Chicago has bounced back to win the last three. The Cubs most recent win against Los Angeles was a come from behind victory, where they once again defined the odds and emerged as winners.
Cubs outlast Dodgers in 10 innings

In what was another high scoring affair, the Cubs and Dodgers combined for eight runs in the first inning of Tuesday’s contest with Los Angeles striking for three and Chicago countering with five. Chicago held a 7-4 lead entering the sixth inning, but six runs from the Dodgers quickly made it 10-7 in favor of the visiting team.
Trailing by three in the eighth inning, the Cubs scored two runs thanks to a Kyle Tucker home run and then tied the game in the ninth off a Miguel Amaya solo homer. In extra innings, Iann Happ walked the game off with a single into right field.

Another improbable come from behind victory

Just 25 games into the regular season, the Cubs have been no stranger to come from behind victories. Baseball Reference has the Cubs with eight come from behind wins this season, coincidentally trailing only the Dodgers with nine for the most in the league.
Of Chicago’s come from behind wins, they’ve had some memorable moments that have defied the odds stacked against them. In Tuesday’s game against Los Angeles, the Dodgers had a 96% win probability with two outs in the ninth inning. That was until Amaya launched a game tying home run.
Against the Diamondbacks last week, Chicago had a 99% win probability entering the eighth inning, they surrendered 10 runs and were faced with less than a 4% chance of victory, and then countered with six runs in the bottom of that same inning to outlast Arizona 13-11.
At this point, it’s fair to say that the 2025 Cubs have flair for the dramatic, are resilient, and can deliver in high-pressure moments. These defining traits have shaped their identity early on, and if the trend continues, Chicago could ride that tenacity deep into the season.
