The Chicago Cubs are close to acquiring catcher Miguel Montero from the Arizona Diamondbacks, with some sources saying the deal is “all but done.”
Diamondbacks beat reporter Nick Piecoro reports that the Cubs will give up tow lower level pitching prospects for the catcher. One of those prospects is Jefferson Mejia. The 20-year-old pitcher hasn’t made it out of rookie ball yet but has a lot of upside.
Hearing one of the pitchers Dbacks will receive in a Montero trade is Jefferson Mejia.

Mejia is a good arm. Far away. High ceiling but more likely outcome is a bullpen arm. Hate to lose the upside, though.

We will update when more information is available. UPDATE: Pitcher Zack Godley is the other player in the deal. It’s now official.
