After some early season concerns, it appears as if the Chicago Cubs offense has finally come alive in these past two games.
The Cubs scored 8 runs in their win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday to close out a homestand and one day later they doubled it. In the series opener against the Colorado Rockies, the Cubs scored 16 runs to blow out the Rockies 16-5 on Friday night.
The 16 runs is the most for a Cubs team against the Rockies since 1996 when they scored 17 runs. That game was also played in Coors Field with the Cubs winning 17-4, just a day after scoring 10 runs in a win over Colorado.

Th Cubs got another big performance from second baseman Javier Baez who went 4-for-6 with 4 RBI’s and 2 runs scored. He hit a two-run home run to get the scoring started for the Cubs in the top of the first inning. It was the second-straight game Baez hit in the two-hole and if this production keeps up, he could find himself there permanently.
Left fielder Kyle Schwarber went 3-for-4 with 4 RBI, 2 runs and a walk. Schwarber hit a big three-run home run in the sixth inning to help break the game wide open.
Game 2 of the weekend series is set for Saturday night with first pitch at 7:10 p.m. CST.
