A source told ESPN Insider Keith Law Friday that the Chicago Cubs have acquired right-handed pitcher Jacob Turner from the Miami Marlins. The Cubs are sending a couple of minor league relievers to Miami.
The Cubs offense is on its way up but the pitching still needs help. Turner, drafted with the ninth pick in the 2009 draft by the Detroit Tigers and is 4-7 this season with a 5.97 ERA. He is 9-21 with a 4.77 ERA in his career.
This comes after news broke yesterday that the Cubs had put a claim in on Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Cole Hamels. Not much is expected to come from the Hamels claim but hopefully Turner can turn his career around with a fresh start in a new organization. The Cubs are his third team in his short career.
