However, it was the kids at the top of the order who sparked the Cubs offense. Rookies Tyler Colvin and Starlin Castro, the number 1 and 2 hitters, combined to go 6-9 with 3 runs scored an RBI and a stolen base. Soto, Soriano, and Derrek Lee all added three RBI in the win.
Tom Gorzelanny held down the Phillies for 6 1/3 innings allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 5 hits. He allowed 5 free passes while striking out 5. Ryan Howard added another home run his fourth in the series and 21st overall.
