I won’t be putting up the AZL Cubs results anymore, with Reggie Golden out I don’t see the point.
Iowa Cubs (AAA)- Lost to Nashville 8-6
Austin Bibens-Dirkx got the start and was destroyed. He pitched five innings, allowed eight runs (all earned), on 10 hits and a walk. This will be a start best forgotten.
Marquez Smith (3B) went 2-5 with a run scored.
Robinson Chirinos (C) went 1-3 with a double, walk, and 2 RBI. He continues to hit in AAA after posting a mammoth OPS in AA.
Tennessee Smokies (AA)- Lost to West Tennessee 7-4
Trey McNutt made his first AA start, and things did not go too well. He lasted just 4 2/3 innings and allowed five earned runs. He walked two, gave up seven hits, and struck out five. He’s still one of the top prospects in the system though.
Kyle Smit pitched 1 2/3 innings in relief. He have up six hits, two runs (one earned), and walked one.
Brett Jackson (RF) went 1-5.
Steve Clevenger (C) went 2-4 with a double.
Tony Thomas (2B) went 2-4 with a triple and two runs scored.
Daytona Cubs (High-A)- Double header vs. Brevard County. Lost Game 1 7-3; Won Game 2 4-2
Junior Lake (SS) went 1-5 in Game 1 and 0-2 in Game 2.
D.J. LeMahieu (2B) went 1-4 with a RBI in Game 1, 1-3 in Game 2.
Peoria Chiefs (Low-A)- Lost to Clinton 3-1
Hak-Ju Lee (SS) went 1-4.
Logan Watkins played CF and went 2-4 with a triple and a stolen base.
Ja-Hoon Ha (RF) went 0-4
Boise Hawks (Rookie)- Lost to Vancouver 7-0
Just about two weeks left in the minor league season.
