A few notable pitching debuts last night, so let’s get to it.
Iowa Cubs (AAA)- Lost to Nashville 6-4
Chris Carpenter made his first AAA start, and he didn’t do too well. In three innings he allowed three runs on seven hits and four walks. He did get four strikeouts, and at least there is nowhere to go but up from here.
Marquez Smith (3B) went 1-5, and committed his 9th error of the season.
Brad Snyder (RF) went 2-3 with a home run.
Tennessee Smokies (AA)- Beat West Tennessee 9-6
Recently acquired pitcher Ty’Relle Harris (from the D-Lee trade) got his first start in the Cubs’ organization. He had quite the outing, going five shutout innings allowing just three hits. He had five strikeouts and no walks, not too bad.
Brett Jackson (RF) went 1-5 with a triple.
Steve Clevenger (C) stayed hot, going 2-4 with a double and a walk.
Tony Thomas (2B) went 1-4 with a three run homer.
Daytona Cubs (High-A)- Beat Clearwater 8-2
Brooks Raley put together a nice start, going six innings and allowing one unearned run. He allowed six hits, no walks, and struck out three.
Junior Lake (SS) went 1-4 with a RBI and a run. He also committed his 40th error of the season.
D.J. LeMahieu (2B) went 1-4.
Evan Crawford (CF), who came over in the Fontenot deal, went 1-3 with two strikeouts.
Peoria Chiefs (Low-A)- Lost to Clinton 10-5
Brett Wallach started, and took the loss. He went five innings and allowed five runs (three earned) on six hits and one walk.
Hak-Ju Lee (SS) went 0-3 and committed his 32nd error of the season.
Jae-Hoon Ha (RF) went 2-5 with a run scored.
Boise Hawks (Rookie)- Lost to Vancouver 5-1
