Iowa Cubs (AAA)- Lost to Omaha 5-4
Austin Bibens-Dirkx had a rough outing, lasting just four 2/3 innings. He allowed five runs (three earned) on five hits and four walks. He also had a wild pitch, which all ads up to him probably having a rough day with his command.
Robinson Chirinos (C) went 1-3 and was hit by a pitch.
Brian LaHair (1B, also LF +RF sometimes) went 1-4 with a home run. I don’t think he can play third base, otherwise he would have a really good shot at making the team next season.
Tennessee Smokies (AA)- Beat Birmingham 8-7
The Smokies won on a walk off home run by Russ Canzler, which also clinched them at least a tie of their division.
Trey McNutt got the start, and continues to adjust to AA hitting. He went five innings, allowed four runs (two earned) on six hits and one walk. He struck out four, and this was certainly a major improvement over his first AA start.
Kyle Smit, of Ted Lilly trade fame, pitched a scoreless ninth, and has a 1.89 ERA this season.
Brett Jackson (RF) went 0-4, and is in a mini-slump.
Tony Campana (CF) went 2-4 with a double, RBI, and three runs scored.
Brandon Guyer (LF) went 4-5 with two doubles and four RBI.
Daytona Cubs (High-A)- Lost to Lakeland 3-0
Peoria Chiefs (Low-A)- Beat Clinton 7-1
Hak-Ju Lee (DH) went 2-5 with a double.
D.J. Fitzgerald (LF) went 4-4 with two doubles and a triple. He just needed a home run for the cycle.
Ja-Hoon Ha (RF) went 2-4 with a double.
Boise Hawks (Rookie)- Lost to Spokane 3-2
