Iowa Cubs (AAA)- Beat Omaha 8-7
Chris Carpenter made his second AAA start, and it was certainly an improvement over his first try at AAA. He went six innings, allowed four runs on nine hits and two walks. He’s still got a lot of improving to do though, the transition to AAA hasn’t been easy so far.
Jeff Gray and Jeff Stevens finished off the game for the I-Cubs. Gray allowed three runs in an inning and a third, but still got the a win. Stevens closed out the game, his seventh AAA save, with a perfect ninth.
Brad Snyder and Jason Dubois had the big days offensively. Both went 3-5 with two RBI.
Wellington Castillo got a rare start, and went 2-4.
Tennessee Smokies (AA)- Lost to Birmingham 16-1
Lucky for the Smokies, Huntsville lost, which means the Smokies are second half division champs.
Ty’Relle Harris had a nice Cubs debut, but today was not a good day. In four innings he allowed seven runs on nine hits. He only walked one though, still not a good outing.
Esmailin Caridad followed that up with an inning where he allowed a two run homer.
Brett Jackson (LF) went 0-3 with a walk.
Tony Thomas (2B) went 0-4 with two strikeouts.
Daytona Cubs (High-A)- Beat Lakeland 5-1
