The Chicago Cubs and Arizona Diamondbacks wrapped up their series on Easter Sunday, with the Diamondbacks narrowly avoiding a sweep thanks to a 3-2 win in extra innings. This contest saw multiple weather delays due to rain plus lightning and proved to be a tough day for hitters on both sides. Unfortunately, one of the Cubs offensive leaders over the past seven days saw a MLB-best streak come to an end amid the soggy, low-scoring affair.
One Chicago Cubs offensive spark plug saw his MLB-best streak snapped on Easter

Entering play on Sunday, Cubs outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong had a streak of seven consecutive games with an extra base hit. The streak started on April 12 against the Dodgers and he accumulated five doubles, one triple, and three home runs over that stretch. Unfortunately, he went 0-4 against Arizona and his MLB-best streak was snapped.
What is the record for most consecutive games with an extra base hit?

Per Baseball Almanac, Paul Waner and Chipper Jones hold the MLB record for most consecutive games with an extra base hit at 14. Jones accomplished the feat in 2006 with the Atlanta Braves. A season ago, the Athletics Lawrence Butler had nine consecutive games with an extra base hit, which was the longest streak in 2024.
Despite the tough loss and the end of a notable streak, the Cubs still came away with a series win as they were victorious on Friday and Saturday night. As for Crow-Armstrong, his streak of seven consecutive games may turn out to be one of, if not the longest, of the season once all is said and done, which is a testament to his impact early on and growth he’s made.
