Thankfully for the Cubs and their fans, Chicago avoided being swept by the Pirates (again).
Ted Lilly pitched 7 innings allowing 3 runs but didn’t figure in the decision.
Trailing 3-1 in the 7th, Chicago tied it up by scoring on a wild pitch and a Derrek Lee RBI single. Then in the 8th, Xavier Nady came up huge with the go ahead RBI single which won the game.
Sean Marshall was awarded the win while Carlos Marmol was electric and picked up save number 6.
On Monday, the Cubs will open up a 2 game set with the Rockies. Randy Wells will pitch for the Cubs while the Rockies will have Aaron Cook on the mound.
