The Cubs had the opportunity to do something today that they haven’t done all year. That is, win three games in a row. There was a good chance of this happening with Matt Garza starting against the worst team in the majors.
Before the game, some Cubs players had laughs about their inability to win three in a row. After the bullpen blew it, after a quality Garza start, it wasn’t a laughing matter anymore.
The Cubs carried a 3-2 lead into the 8th inning and then the bullpen took over. Jeff Samardzija came in the game to start the 8th inning after Garza pitched 7 innings allow just two runs on five hits while striking out nine.
Samardzija started off the inning by walking Hunter Pence. The next batter, Carlos Lee, hit a two run homer giving the Astros a one run lead. It seemed like a too familiar situation for the Cubs and their fans.
Unlike the past two times the bullpen blew Garza’s lead, the Cubs offense bailed them out. The Cubs quickly responded in the bottom of the 8th. Byrd and Soto lead off the inning with basehits, then Alfonso Soriano hit a game tying single.
After a scoreless 9th inning, Grabow pitched a scoreless 10th inning for the Cubs. Marlon Byrd started the bottom of the 10th of with a triple. Then after a strikeout and two walks, Cubs pinch hitter, Jeff Baker, lined a single to left scoring Byrd and winning the game for the Cubs. Finally giving the team their first three game win streak of the season
However, things look to get difficult from here on out as the Cubs will travel to Milwaukee, St. Louis and Pittsburgh.

Sweep, sweep, sweep
I wish man. I could see Cubs winning the series vs Brewers and Pirates to be honest
