It may have taken him a month and a half into the season, but it’s starting to look like Aramis Ramirez is breaking out of his slump.
Ramirez hit an RBI single in the 1st but he was just getting started. With the game tied 2-2 in the bottom of the 11th, Aram hit a walkoff home run, his 1st homer in over a month. After the game, Ramirez said he is starting to feel more comfortable at the plate and is beginning to see the ball better.
Randy Wells (3-2) pitched 6.2 innings allowing only 1 run on 7 hits. He walked 1 while striking out 3 Rockies. Wells didn’t figure into the decision thanks to Carlos Marmol, who blew a save opportunity in the 8th.
Sean Marshall (3-1) picked up his 3rd victory on the season by pitching 2 perfect innings including 4 strikeouts.
The Cubs offense had 10 hits which included multi-hit games bye Kosuke Fukudome (2), Starlin Castro (3), and Ramirez (2). Aside from calling a good game, Koyie Hill also had an RBI single in the 4th.
The Cubs will look to sweep the short 2 game series vs. Colorado tomorrow night. The Cubs will have their biggest surprise of 2010 on the mound in the form of Big C: Carlos Silva (4-0) while the Rockies with counter with Jhoulys Chacin (2-1).
