With Russell Wilson out of Madison, the Wisconsin Badgers have signed Danny O’Brien, another transfer quarterback from the ACC.
Although this isn’t nearly as much of a splash as Russell Wilson was, this move should fill the one major void on Bret Bielema’s roster. O’Brien did not impress in his final year as a Terrapin, completing only 56.4% of his passes, 7 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
Even if the stats may not be fantastic, O’Brien’s starting experience will solidify the quarterback position for his two years of eligibility. The other three quarterbacks on the Wisconsin roster have not started a collegiate game. New recruit Bart Houston, a 4-star recruit from national high school power De La Salle, will be able to learn under an experienced quarterback.
With Montee Ball in the backfield and Wisconsin’s notoriously massive offensive lines protecting him, I have a feeling Danny O’Brien will be as thrilled to call Wisconsin home as Badger fans are to have him in Madison.
