Kenny Williams made his feelings known, telling Ozzie Here’s “Do not worry about the size of the contracts, Just worry about putting the players out there on a given day that can help him win. The size of the contract is not Ozzie’s problem. It’s not Jerry problems. It’s not the coaches’ problems. That’s my problem.
Ozzie responded by benching the oft lazy looking Rios in favor of the fleet-footed Alejandro De Aza fresh off his first call-up of 2011. Ozzie was looking for a spark from the 27 year old centerfielder.
A spark that was shown in his first at bat as he deposited a 2nd inning offering from Max scherzer in to the stand with what would prove to be the game winning HR as the Sox won 2-1. De Aza said of the homer “I’m happy I’m here. Thank God they gave me the opportunity to do the little things I was supposed to do, I was trying to do my best, get a hit, and big things happened.”
